ALA members will vote on a dues increase not to exceed the percentage change in the national average Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the previous calendar year, rounded to the nearest dollar through September 2022.

Members will also vote on a resolution determining whether the Association’s executive director should be required to hold an ALA-accredited master’s degree or a Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)-accredited master’s degree with a specialty in school library media.

In October 2017, ALCTS signed on to a joint letter encouraging the ALA Council to change the standing policy to make an ALA-accredited Master’s Degree or a CAEP-accredited master’s degree with a specialty in school library media degree recommended or preferred, instead of required, for future ALA executive directors. Council voted in November 115 to 34 (with two abstaining) to make an ALA- or CAEP-accredited master’s degree preferred rather than required for the position. This vote reversed a January 2017 Council resolution.
