PARS Forum: 2017 Annual Conference

This year’s Preservation & Reformatting Section (PARS) Forum was held on Sunday, June 25, and featured reports on two innovative programs. The session was introduced by Chair Kris Kern, who briefly announced the two segments and their presenters. The first speaker was Katie Risseeuw, Preservation Librarian at Northwestern University, who led the second annual “Preservation in Action.” Tom Clareson, Director for the Performing Arts Readiness project, gave the second presentation.

The second annual Preservation in Action (PiA) event was held on Friday, June 23, 2017. The day-long preconference was sponsored by the American Library Association’s Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Preservation & Reformatting Section (PARS), and was held at Chicago’s Rebuild Foundation’s Stoney Island Arts Bank.

Library of Congress BIBFRAME Update Forum: 2017 Annual Conference

The Library of Congress BIBFRAME (Bibliographic Framework Initiative) Update Forum was held on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at McCormick Place in Chicago. Five speakers from the Library of Congress, OCLC, Stanford University, and Zepheira gave attendees an update on the progress made in developing and implementing BIBFRAME.

ILS Migration Stories: Naked Data & Change Management: 2017 Annual Conference

On June 25, 2017, the LLAMA Technology Community of Practice sponsored the ALA Program, “ILS Migration Stories: Naked Data and Change Management.” This panel presentation was delivered by Elizabeth Novicki, Leland Deeds, Julene Jones, and John Sterbenz, Jr. Each panelist described the size of their library or libraries’ collections, the academic programs their libraries support, and the number of library employees at their respective institutions.
