Section: ALA Annual Conference

This preconference to the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans was held on Friday, June 22. The event sold out, with 100 people attending. The preconference was the first opportunity for public questions and comments about the beta version of the restructure and redesign of the Resource Description & Access (RDA) Toolkit, which was released on June 13, 2018.

The RDA (Resource Description and Access) Forum was held at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference on Saturday, June 23, with over 100 people in attendance.

The Resource Description Access (RDA) Linked Data Forum took place at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana at the Morial Convention Center on Monday, June 25. Gordon Dunsire (chair of the RDA Steering Committee) delivered a presentation titled “RDA Linked Data and the New RDA Toolkit.” James Hennelly (director of ALA Digital Reference) introduced the session’s speaker and moderated the question and answer session following the presentation.

At ALA Annual 2018, Nadine Ellero (Auburn University Libraries), Erik Mitchell (University of California San Diego Library) and Michael Bolam (University of Pittsburgh Libraries) presented the results of the ALCTS Metadata Standards Committee’s survey on diversity, inclusion and accessibility in metadata schema design, implementation and use.

Christina D. Mune, information technology services director at San Jose State University’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library, presented “Ready, Set, Search! Launching a Discovery Assessment Campaign” on Saturday, June 23, 2017 at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. The program was sponsored by the Library and Information Technology Association (LITA).
