John Bracken, executive director of the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA), led the forum, which was held at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference on Saturday, June 23. The program consisted of an update of the DPLA’s work followed by a panel discussion.

A big room, a big audience, and a big name made for a lively Monday morning near the end of the 2018 ALA Annual Conference. The ALCTS President’s Program featured famed culinary historian, chef, speaker, author, and food blogger Michael W. Twitty, who introduced us to his latest book “The Cooking Gene: A Journey Through African American Culinary History in the Old South.”

The Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) At Large Meeting and Participants Meeting were held on the afternoon of Sunday, June 24 during the 2018 ALA Annual Conference and Exhibition. The At Large Meeting gave updates for the Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) and the Subject Authority Cooperative Program (SACO), including an overview of the Library of Congress (LC) SACO review process. The Participants Meeting focused on the evolving role of the authority control into identity management and included member updates and viewpoints of several projects.

This preconference to the 2018 ALA Annual Conference in New Orleans was held on Friday, June 22. The event sold out, with 100 people attending. The preconference was the first opportunity for public questions and comments about the beta version of the restructure and redesign of the Resource Description & Access (RDA) Toolkit, which was released on June 13, 2018.

The RDA (Resource Description and Access) Forum was held at the 2018 ALA Annual Conference on Saturday, June 23, with over 100 people in attendance.
