ANMIG Seeks Volunteers for 2018–2019

The ALCTS New Members Interest Group (ANMIG) is seeking volunteers to serve for 2018–2019. ANMIG has focused on the interest of new ALCTS members and information professionals since 2009. The group is charged with developing interest group meetings at ALA conferences, helping new members of ALCTS assimilate to the division, plan virtual events and share pertinent information to the larger library community. Currently, the positions of co-vice chair, student liaison, social media coordinator, and member-at-large. ALCTS Endorses Acquisitions Core Competencies

The ALCTS Board of Directors has endorsed the “Core Competencies for Acquisitions Professionals” ourlining competencies that are needed across the span of an individual’s professional career to perform acquisitions functions. The intended audience for these competencies include students and new practitioners as well as managers and administrators who specialize or manage acquisitions functions in any library setting.

Three ALA divisions—the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS), Library & Information Technology Association (LITA), and Library Leadership & Management Association (LLAMA)—are currently discussing how we might work together to create a new division.
